Intrigued by nature as a kid I drew trees, grass and rocks. I liked to roam around the local bush and was in awe of the huge world we lived in and loved exploring. Finding this wounder again as an adult in photography has made me notice the things that really speak to me in the landscape. To look past “just seeing” the surface of our reality to the timeless details beneath hiding in plain sight. I grew up in a regional town near Melbourne on retired farm. This place was just on the outskirts of the urban sprawl that has now overcome it. There were some amazing natural places around this area such as mountains, rivers and rainfores and i think this is what shaped me to follow landscape photography. I bought my first camera about 16 years ago to take pictures of my first borne son. I learned portraiture and creative still life photography and worked on studio lighting. I went through a stage of studying the “Strobist” David Hobby and completely reading his blogs. A few years later i wanted to make an HDR image that was trending at the time so i took the plunge into the world of photo blending for dynamic range and later photo stacking for unlimited focusing. After this i started printing and i plunged into another adventure that transformed my work into art! this was a critical point to getting better and actually changed, distilled my style. Now that i have worked through the process i have a lot of knowledge to share. Over the last 8 years i have been going on short trips up and down the east coast finding new landscapes to photograph and perfecting my skills. As for local locations i have worked on cityscapes, bridges, jetty’s mangroves, lakes and rivers.
My wish is to show others how to follow their curiosity and instincts to capture things that inspire them. To show them how to use a camera fluently as part of themselves and find an unique voice.
